How it works
From a first call to verified results in the field.
- Book a call. Fill in the 30-second form. We set up a 20-minute strategy call.
- Scope it. Together we confirm the objective, define the field tasks, set the date and agree what the report will measure.
- Sign and deposit. A one-page agreement. 50% deposit at signing. 50% due within 15 days of your Outcome Report.
- We mobilize. We set up your challenge on colgrid.app and recruit residents through flyers, social media and local outreach.
- Challenge day. Residents join alone or as a team, open the field map, complete tasks, check in by GPS and submit photos and logs.
- Outcome Report. The field data is compiled into your report: check-ins, sites audited, completed actions and feedback.
- Neighbors get paid. Verified participants receive their base reward, any bounties they earned, and a share of the bonus if targets were hit.

How neighbors get paid
- Guaranteed base$20Everyone who completes the base set of asks gets paid. Usually a gift card for a shop in the district.
- Action bounties$25 to $250Local businesses fund specific asks. The people who complete them get the bounty.
- Shared value pool10% of the feeIf the challenge hits its targets, the top-contributing teams share a bonus. When the district wins, so do the people who did the work.
Rewards are funded by the organization and its sponsors, and released after a verified check-in or photo.
Safety
Field tasks are agreed with you before the day, done in teams and in public places. Every participant accepts the terms before taking part.
Questions
Who takes part?
Everyday residents who live nearby and want to take direct action. We recruit them through flyers, social media and local outreach. You don't need to bring a crowd.
Who pays?
The organization that commissions the challenge. Residents never pay to take part, and they are paid for verified work.
What is in the Outcome Report?
Verified field data: check-ins, sites audited, completed actions and what participants told us. Organizations use it to prove impact to boards, grantors and city officials.
What kinds of problems work?
Problems that need many people each doing a small, physical task: inspect, count, map, collect, visit. If we can't measure it, we'll say so before you pay.
How do we pay?
50% deposit at signing. The other 50% is due within 15 days of your Outcome Report.
